This page sets out how I create and manage content on AccessInFocus. It explains the principles that guide my writing and the standards I follow for independence and transparency.
Who I am
AccessInFocus is operated by Infocus Point EOOD, a Bulgarian company based in Sofia. I am Elena Karamanska, founder of the company and the person behind the content on this site.
I write and publish guides and opinions about accessibility and related topics.
Editorial independence
All views are my own. I write and edit my work. No person or company pays to influence my views or the outcome of my articles.
Funding & ads
- Advertising: none at this time.
- Paid placements: not accepted.
- Membership or donations: not used unless stated on a separate page.
Sponsored content
I do not publish sponsored posts at this time. If this changes:
- Sponsored items will be clearly marked as “Sponsored” at the top.
- The sponsor’s name will be shown.
- Links in sponsored items will include
rel="sponsored".
Affiliate links
There are no affiliate links on this site at this time. If affiliate links are added in the future:
- The page will state this near the first link.
- Affiliate links will include
rel="nofollow sponsored". - Any commission will not change the price you pay or my opinions.
Samples & gifts
I do not request or accept gifts in exchange for coverage. If I test a product or service, I will disclose how access was obtained.
Conflicts of interest
I avoid conflicts. If a potential conflict exists, I disclose it on that page. The projects I have an ongoing interest in are listed below.
Projects I work on
I link to these projects from this website and I have a professional interest in each one, so I name them here.
- All Access World: a marketplace for assistive technology and adaptive products. Accessibility testing on this project is one of my responsibilities. This work is unpaid.
- Reysko: a public transit app for iPhone and Android, with trip planning and audio guidance. I design and build it. It is operated by Infocus Point EOOD.
- Dine on Tap: an accessible digital menu system for restaurants and bars. I design and build it. It is operated by Infocus Point EOOD.
These relationships do not change what I write about accessibility elsewhere on this site. Where a post discusses a project I work on, I say so in that post.
How content is created
- I start with primary sources when possible (laws, standards, official guidance).
- For EU or Bulgarian law, I cite the act, directive, or regulation when relevant.
- I write in plain language and aim for clear, short sentences.
- I may use tools to draft or check text. I review and edit the final post.
Fact-checking & updates
- I check dates, versions, and links when I publish.
- I update posts if the law or guidance changes.
- If you see an error, email contact@accessinfocus.com. I correct significant errors and note the change on the page.
